Ontic has launched CargoCare, an MRO service portfolio for Boeing 747 freighter operators, beginning with an exchange-and-overhaul programme for leading-edge flap drive units. Operators can receive a serviceable replacement from an exchange pool while the removed component is overhauled at Ontic’s facility in Tewkesbury, UK. Exchange times start at 48 hours, helping reduce aircraft downtime and spare-inventory requirements.
Customers can choose between dedicated and shared exchange pools. The programme also provides flat-rate overhaul pricing, extended warranty coverage and flexible commercial terms, with support available through Ontic hubs in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
The service targets a component that can be difficult to source and return quickly after an unexpected removal on the ageing 747 freighter fleet. Once overhauled, each removed unit returns to the pool for continued rotation, allowing operators to access replacement equipment without holding equivalent spares themselves.
CargoCare is intended to expand to additional aircraft platforms and components. Ontic has not disclosed participating operators, exchange-pool capacity, pricing or the specific 747 variants covered by the initial programme.
