Andalusia’s aerospace industry presented eight research and innovation projects at the second INNAERO forum in Seville, highlighting technologies for aviation, space and defence. Held at the Escuela de Organización Industrial’s Sevilla TechPark headquarters, the event included Dovetail Electric Aviation’s plan to fly a fully electric Cessna Caravan in 2027 and the first INNAERO award, which went to Skylife Engineering’s POWER4AIR project.[1][3]
Organised by Andalucía Aerospace, APD and EOI, with sponsorship from Zabala Innovation, the forum brought together companies, technology centres and other stakeholders from the regional aerospace ecosystem. The projects covered electric and hybrid propulsion, artificial intelligence, satellite communications, industrial digitalisation, advanced materials and space technologies.[1][2]
Featured initiatives included CATEC’s CORSARIO, which uses distributed electronic antennas to provide satellite communications on helicopters; Indaero’s Twindaero digital twin for optimising aircraft manufacturing; and Sevilla Control’s AVIADOR, applying artificial intelligence to engineering, production, maintenance and quality control. Other presentations covered AERTEC’s POWER energy solutions, Solar MEMS Technologies’ SOLSENS 2 space solar sensors and Titania’s AEROSURF coatings designed to reduce insect and ice adhesion on wing surfaces.[1][2]
POWER4AIR, coordinated by Skylife Engineering under the European Clean Aviation programme, addresses electric and hybrid aircraft propulsion technologies. The programme includes work on electrical-fault detection, electromagnetic-interference reduction and the reliability of high-voltage power electronics.[1][3] The agenda also featured Javier Borrás, Airbus head of technology partnerships and deputy president of the Spanish Aerospace Technology Platform, discussing the strategic agenda for aerospace research and innovation.[1]
