Lufthansa will launch its first Airbus A350-1000 passenger service on 3 December, when the new aircraft is scheduled to fly from Munich to Tokyo Haneda. The aircraft, registered D-AIFA and named Deutschland, is expected to arrive from Airbus’s Toulouse facility in mid-November before undergoing final preparations for commercial operations.
Shanghai and Singapore are planned as additional destinations in the following weeks. Lufthansa will alternate A350-1000 and A350-900 aircraft on the three routes, all featuring the carrier’s Allegris cabin, so the schedule does not assign the larger variant to every flight.
D-AIFA carries Lufthansa’s centenary special livery and will be the seventh aircraft in the airline’s anniversary fleet. Its delivery will also be the 700th Airbus aircraft delivered to Lufthansa Group.
Lufthansa Group has ordered 15 A350-1000s for delivery through 2030. The first 10 will be operated by Lufthansa from its Munich hub. The airline has not yet published launch dates for Shanghai and Singapore or the flight number and detailed schedule for the Tokyo service.
