AIP Capital and Bridgepoint add GFH Bank to billion-dollar aircraft-engine platform

Bridgepoint, GFH Bank and AIP Capital have formed a strategic partnership to build a commercial aircraft-engine platform targeting a portfolio worth more than US$1 billion. The platform will acquire and lease current- and next-generation engines to airlines, maintenance, repair and overhaul providers and other operators, with a particular focus on engines for Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo fleets.

Bahrain-based GFH joins as a strategic partner and cornerstone investor, committing significant capital alongside Bridgepoint funds. The partners also plan to raise additional money from institutional and private-wealth investors as the platform expands. GFH, which has more than US$25 billion in assets and funds under management, is entering aviation investment through the transaction.

The platform builds on Bridgepoint and AIP Capital’s cooperation established in 2024 with an initial portfolio of CFM International LEAP-1B engines. In July 2026, the two companies agreed to purchase a further 11 LEAP-1B engines from CFM International.

AIP Capital will lead engine sourcing, asset management and trading. Investments may include direct manufacturer purchases, airline sale-and-leasebacks, secondary-market acquisitions and finance leases. The partners are targeting demand for spare engines amid longer maintenance turnaround times, aircraft delivery backlogs and continued passenger-demand growth. Individual capital commitments, the platform’s current portfolio value and a timetable for reaching the target were not disclosed.
