ITA Airways to Launch Rome–Caracas Flights in March 2027

ITA Airways will restore nonstop service between Rome Fiumicino and Caracas from 30 March 2027, reconnecting Italy and Venezuela after more than a decade. The route will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using Airbus A330-900 aircraft. Flights will serve Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, providing onward connections through the airline’s Rome hub.

The planned service follows a memorandum of understanding signed by ITA Airways chief executive Joerg Eberhart and Venezuela’s ambassador to Italy, María Elena Uzzo Giannattasio. Aviation authorities and diplomatic representatives from both countries contributed to the agreement.

ITA Airways expects the route to support business and leisure travel, tourism, trade and travel by the Italian and Italian-descendant communities in Venezuela. It will add Caracas to the carrier’s long-haul Latin American network and expand connection options between Venezuela and destinations across Europe through Rome.

The service replaces the direct link previously operated by Alitalia, which was suspended in 2015. Venezuela’s state broadcaster estimated that the three-weekly schedule could provide more than 60,000 seats. Flight numbers, timings, fares and booking availability have not yet been published, so the service remains a planned rather than operational route.
