Plus Ultra in advanced talks with Laser Airlines over alliance

Plus Ultra is in advanced talks with Venezuela’s Laser Airlines over a possible alliance that could support services involving Lisbon and Santiago de Chile. No agreement has been signed, and the routes remain prospective. The cooperation could also broaden Plus Ultra’s European operations and involve coordination between the carriers’ networks, according to reporting by Spanish outlet The Objective.

The discussions form part of Plus Ultra’s search for strategic investment and refinancing to support its medium- and long-term viability. The airline is considering several financing options, but negotiations with Laser are reported to be further advanced than separate discussions involving Iberojet.

Laser operates domestic, Caribbean and South American services. It does not have widebody aircraft for transatlantic routes and reportedly relies on leased aircraft for some long-haul operations, a potential area of operational fit with Plus Ultra. The proposed alliance could include route coordination and operational cooperation, although no specific arrangements or implementation timetable have been confirmed.
