Riga Airport seeks investors for MRO hangars

RIX Riga Airport has opened a competitive process to attract investors for aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul hangars and associated infrastructure in the airport’s western area, near Skulte. Investors would fund, design, build and operate the facilities at their own expense. The airport is accepting initial applications until 30 November 2026; the tender could lead to development by one or more investors.

The process has two stages. Riga Airport will first assess applicants’ qualifications, experience and development concepts, then invite shortlisted candidates to a competitive dialogue to determine land requirements, technical specifications and project conditions. The plots and terms will be set during the tender.

The airport has not specified the planned hangar capacity, investment value or construction schedule. The project forms part of its plan to develop Riga as a multifunctional aviation hub in Northern Europe. Board chair Laila Odiņa identified MRO infrastructure as a priority for expanding airport services, attracting investment and building higher-value aviation activity.
