Lufthansa City Airlines’ first A220-300 at Mirabel

New photographs show Lufthansa City Airlines’ first Airbus A220-300, registered D-ACAA, at Airbus Canada’s Mirabel facility near Montreal, where the aircraft is being completed. Delivery is expected before the end of 2026, although no precise handover date has been confirmed. The carrier plans to introduce the type on short- and medium-haul services from Frankfurt in early 2027, with the aircraft configured for 148 passengers.

The A220 will be a new type for Lufthansa City Airlines, whose fleet currently includes Airbus A319s and A320neos. The airline is preparing the aircraft for feeder services, initially strengthening its Frankfurt operation. Lufthansa Group’s plan also envisages A220 operations from Munich.

Lufthansa Group has ordered 40 A220-300s for the carrier, with options for a further 20. The aircraft are intended for short-haul flying and to feed passengers into the group’s wider network. The first airframe’s progress at Mirabel precedes delivery and the airline’s planned entry into service in 2027.
