LOT retires Embraer E170 after 22 years of service

LOT Polish Airlines retired its last Embraer E170 on 30 October, ending 22 years of operations with the type. The final aircraft, registered SP-LDH, flew its farewell passenger rotation between Warsaw and Vienna, the route on which LOT began scheduled E170 service in March 2004. The Polish carrier was the first airline worldwide to operate the aircraft commercially.

LOT operated ten E170s. Over the type’s 22 years in its fleet, they carried 13.8 million passengers, completed nearly 300,000 flights and covered more than 230 million kilometres, according to figures reported for the retirement.

The airline’s first scheduled E170 flight departed Warsaw for Vienna on 17 March 2004. The retirement ends LOT’s operation of the E170, but not its use of Embraer aircraft: its fleet continues to include the E175, E190, E195 and E195-E2.
