Embraer and CIAC deepen ties to elevate Colombia’s aerospace ambitions

Embraer and Colombia’s Aeronautical Industry Corporation (CIAC) signed a memorandum of understanding at the FIDAE airshow in Santiago, Chile, on April 8, 2026. The agreement seeks to expand industrial and technical cooperation to strengthen Colombia’s aerospace sector.

Fabio Caparica, Vice-President of Contracts at Embraer Defense & Security, stated the MoU marks a strategic step to enhance joint capabilities. It could involve platforms such as the A-29 Super Tucano and KC-390 Millennium, with plans to integrate CIAC into Embraer’s global production and supply chains.

Colonel Oscar Francisco Zúñiga Martin, President of CIAC, described the deal as key to advancing knowledge transfer and technical expertise. He noted it would support local capabilities in maintenance, innovation, and aeronautical engineering, positioning CIAC competitively on the global stage.

Colombia operates about 50 Embraer aircraft across defense, commercial, and executive segments, including 24 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft with the Colombian Air Force. The partnership builds on this established relationship to foster industrial growth and integration into international aerospace programs.
