A LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 737 MAX flying from London Heathrow to Warsaw Chopin diverted to Warsaw-Modlin on 3 November after a reported bomb threat, prompting a temporary closure of the airport. The aircraft landed at 10:01 a.m. local time with 181 people on board, seven minutes after the alert was reported. Passengers were evacuated as Polish security services and bomb-disposal specialists began checks.
The aircraft was moved to a designated area for examination. Modlin resumed operations around midday, but the aircraft and its passengers and crew remained subject to further procedures while checks continued. The available reporting did not establish whether the threat was credible or give the final outcome of the inspection.
The diversion took the flight away from its scheduled arrival at Chopin, Warsaw’s main airport, while authorities assessed the threat and secured the aircraft. Modlin, about 36 km from the city, serves mainly low-cost airlines. Its temporary closure disrupted airport operations during the response.
